WELCOME TO

WOODEND JUNIOR

FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB

A welcoming club where kids learn, grow and belong

WJFNC is built on respect, teamwork and inclusion. We work closely with families, schools and the broader Woodend community to create positive sporting experiences for all participants.

The Woodend Junior Football Netball Club (WJFNC) is a community-based club focused on giving children and young people a safe, supportive and fun environment to play football and netball.

We’re proud of our strong community values, dedicated volunteers, and commitment to player development — on and off the field.

Whether your child is new to sport or already loves the game, WJFNC is a place where everyone is welcome.

Young boys and girls in yellow and brown striped sports uniforms pose happily on a footy field after a game, some making victory gestures. They are smiling and celebrating, with coaches and spectators in the background.

NOTICE BOARD

First Aid Sports Trainers Needed

The WJFNC is calling out to all families to consider volunteering their time to be a qualified First Aid Sports Trainer at your child's football and netball games in 2026.  Our kids cannot play without having these positions filled.

The club will fully fund the required course costs for a commitment to volunteering your time and supporting our teams.

Qualified Medical Professionals (QMP) can also volunteer as Trainers on game days.  This refers to a qualified doctor, paramedic, physiotherapist, osteopath, chiropractor, registered nurse or firefighter with Emergency Management Competency and appropriate first aid competencies.

If you are interested in completing this course, or are a QMP, and would like to volunteer your time as a Sports trainer at games in 2026, please reach out to either president@woodendhawks.com.au or secretary@woodendhawks.com.au.

Our Top 10 - WJFNC How We Do Things

1. Kids come first - Every decision we make is in the best interest of the players.

2. Safety is non-negotiable - We create a safe, inclusive environment — physically and emotionally.

3. Be respectful always - To teammates, opponents, umpires, coaches, and volunteers.

4. Development over winning - Especially in junior years, effort, learning and improvement matter most.

5. Be fair and consistent - Game time, positions, and decisions are made with fairness across the team.

6. We are one club - Football and netball, boys and girls, we support each other.

7. Communicate early - If something’s not right, raise it early, small issues stay small that way.

8. Support your volunteers - Coaches and team managers are giving their time — treat them with respect.

9. Set the standard - Coaches, managers, and parents set the tone — kids follow what we do.

10. Make it enjoyable - If kids aren’t enjoying it, we’re missing the point.
